He obtained his post graduate degree in 1978 and awarded a post doctoral degree in Doctor of Medicine in 1994. He is currently a Senior Consultant Dermatologist at the National Skin Centre and Clinical Professor of the Faculty of Medicine of the National University of Singapore and Adjunct Professor of the LKC School of Medicine at the Nanyang Technology University/Imperial College of London. He is also the Chief Medical Informatics Officer of the Centre. He was the Medical Director of the National Skin Centre, Singapore between 1990 and 2004. He is also the Chairman of the Pharmacovigilance Advisory Committee of the Health Science Authority of the Ministry of Health. He is a member of the International Contact Dermatitis Research Group. He was past president of the Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery of Singapore and also past president of the Environmental and Occupational Dermatology Society of Singapore. He is a past member of editorial board of the Contact Dermatitis (Munksgaard Publication) and past international editorial board member of the Archives of Dermatology and Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. He has published more than 300 scientific papers in peer review journals and chapter contributor to numerous dermatology reference books and co-editor of several reference dermatology books and several educational books for the lay public. | |

He was awarded the National Healthcare Group (NHG) Clinician Scientist Career Scheme award in 2016 and started his PhD studies at Lee Kong Chian Medical School, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2017 to study disease prevalence and risk factors associations of atopic dermatitis in a general adult population cohort. |

Her area of interest are Pigmentary Disorders, Cosmetic Dermatology, Acne, and Anti-aging.Dr. Handog has been elected in Delhi as the first woman President of the International Society of Dermatology (2013-2017). She has actively served numerous local and international societies in various capacities. During his study, he was active in clinical genetics research and trained in molecular genetics. After graduating, he completed a cum laude PhD in genetics and dermatology, whilst training to become a dermatologist. In 2006, Dr van Steensel completed his dermatology training and in 2008 became associate professor and vice-chair of the department of Dermatology in Maastricht. He was appointed full professor in 2010 and joined the Institute of Medical Biology, Singapore as a Senior Principal Investigator in February, 2014. In January 2015, Professor Maurice became professor of Dermatology in the School of Medicine, University of Dundee, United Kingdom. In November 2015, he was appointed Honorary Visiting Professor in Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Professor Maurice joined the Skin Research Institute of Singapore full-time as a founding Research Director in June, 2017 and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine as a full Professor in September of that year. He is an internationally renowned expert in genetic skin disorders with over two decades of clinical and research experience in the field. His published work runs the gamut from clinical trials to ciliary biology. His present research focuses on developing new products for treating common skin conditions, in particular acne. |

Then, he studied mainly for keratinocyte cell culture at Department of Dermatology, University of Wales College of Medicine from 1982 to 1984. Then, after he worked at Department of Dermatology, Keio University as Assistant Professor, he became Professor and Chairman at Department of Dermatology, Kurume University School of Medicine, Fukuoka, Japan in 1996. From 2010, he concurrently worked as director at Kurume University Institute of Cutaneous Cell Biology, Fukuoka, Japan. In 2017, he moved to Department of Dermatology, Osaka City University Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka, Japan as Specially-Appointed Professor. His major expertise is clinical and basic researches for both autoimmune bullous diseases and hereditary skin diseases. He has performed a number of basic studies mainly using various immunological and molecular biological techniques. His academic activity has resulted in the publication of more than 850 English papers in various peer-reviewed journals so far.
